Realityworks Babies

The Realityworks Babies contain simulation babies that have been programmed to imitate fetal alcohol syndrome, drug-affected, and shaken babies.  Each baby gives students an example of the various affects that come with these negative aspects of pregnancy.  The simulation babies come in a container  carrying all three subjects.  The Realityworks babies will be checked out to schools two weeks at time.  The calender at the bottom of the page will have information when check out is available.

RealCare Drug-Affected Baby

This electronic simulator dramatically shows the devastating effects of substance use by a pregnant woman.

  • A lifelike, anatomically correct female
  • Bears a painful facial expression
  • Tiny limbs
  • Small for its gestational age
  • Heartbreaking cries of a real drug-affected infant
  • Withdrawal tremors

RealCare Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Baby

This non-electronic baby is based on actual Fetal Alcohol Syndrome infants. It represents only some of alcohol’s many devastating effects on a developing fetus, including:

  • Small head circumference
  • Narrow eye openings
  • Flat midface
  • Flat nose bridge
  • Ear abnormalities
  • Small for gestational age

The accompanying curriculum outlines the multitude of injuries from alcohol you can’t see, such as brain damage, learning difficulties, behavioral problems and mental disabilities.

RealCare Shaken Baby

The devastating brain damage that occurs after just a few seconds of shaking an infant is powerfully demonstrated using this technologically-advanced infant simulator.

  • Cries inconsolably, just like real infants sometimes do.
  • When shaken, accelerometers inside the head measure the force on the brain.
  • Cries stop abruptly for all the wrong reasons.
  • Corresponding LED lights immediately show damage to specific areas of the brain in real time.

Combined with a curriculum that helps establish a plan for coping with an inconsolable baby, the Shaken Baby simulator provides critical information and a powerful demonstration.
